If you're in the area, The Maine Event Cat Club
would like to invite you to stop by our show for an
hour or two. There's plenty to see:
- You can watch the cats being judged. Judging goes on
continuously all day. There are 6 judges per day. Many of the judges talk to
the crowd while they're judging -- they may tell you about the breed of cat they're
currently judging, comment on the strong points of a particular cat, or even explain why
they scored one cat higher than another.
- You can watch the judges present awards to the top 10
cats in each class. The judge presents each winning cat to the audience and awards it a
beautiful rosette.
- You can wander among the exhibitors' area and view the
cats when they aren't being judged. Often, the cats' owners are nearby and are happy to
chat with you about their cats.
- You can browse our vendor area. Our many vendors carry
a broad range of wares: cat toys, scratching posts, beds, grooming supplies, cat food,
jewelry and artwork are just a few of the items you'll find.
- You can visit the cat rescue organizations and see the
cats they have brought for adoption. (We donate vendor space to local feline
rescue organizations. Each year, many beautiful but
homeless cats and kittens find permanent homes at our show.)

What breeds will be at this show?
TICA (The International Cat Association)
recognizes
over
70 cat breeds for championship competition and
exhibition. Most, but not all, of these breeds will
be represented at this show.

Is there a judging schedule?
There is no specific time schedule for the breed
judging; competitions for all classes go on
throughout the day, all weekend long. So, no matter
what time you come, you should be able to see a
broad variety of different breeds being judged. We
have six judging rings which operate independently &
simultaneously; each ring gets the various classes
in a different order (to avoid conflicts between
rings). Each cat will be judged by all six judges
during the course of the day. Also, throughout the
day, you can see all the cats who aren't currently
being judged as they relax with their owners,
waiting for their next turn in the judging ring.
